Universal Design for Learning (UDL)

UDL is an education framework that guides the design for:

Learning Goals – Clear learning expectations that align to standards

  • Learning Material – Not all students need to follow the same steps or the same strategies to learn the material or complete the same assessment
  • Teaching Methods – Not all students need the same materials, scaffolds, to each or exceed the same standard
  • Assessments – Authentic assessments are personalised for students and allow them to meet or exceed standards

UDL is a set of principles for curriculum design to improve and optimize teaching and learning for all people basedon scientific insights into how humans learn.

UDL is designed to improve the learning experience and outcomes for all stuents and giving the power to students to allow them to be creative in their learning by providing choice is a key part of UDL.

Entering world of UDL, learning about UDL and Implementing UDL within your teaching practice will make a huge difference for all your learners.
